Situated in the heart of bustling South Yarra, with public transportation, restaurants and shops only a stone’s throw away. Music and Effects offer an exclusive experience that can be tailored to suit any occasion including premieres, award/press screenings and corporate events.

The cinema seats up to 40 people and also offers a private function space suitable for pre and post show events. Catering can be arranged upon request. A microphone can be provided for speeches and/or a Q&A session.

The cinema-sized Mixing Theatre allows projects to be mixed in a full theatrical 7.1 environment, ideal for feature films, documentary features, short films and cinema commercials. This Dolby Digital® licensed theatre consists of 2 Fairlight Constellation XCS systems and a Pro Tools HD12 Native system. All 3 systems are interconnected to create exceptional flexibility and power.

ADR and Voice Recording

The Music and Effects Recording studio is the ideal space for all types of ADR and Voice Over recording. The studio was designed by acoustic experts and has been specifically constructed so that the room is isolated from external audio and vibration.This makes for an ultra quiet environment for the highest quality audio recording. 

ADR recording is controlled natively by Fairlight, providing onscreen text, sync beeps and streamers. The extensive microphone collection offers a microphone for every vocal type and the range includes Neumann, Sennheiser, AKG and Electrovoice microphones. Directors and Producers can remotely listen into a recording session via Skype or Source Connect.

Source Connect

Music and Effect’s purpose built Foley room enables the creation of custom sound effects by experienced recordists and performers. This space has in-built Foley pits with a variety of walking surfaces as well as a plethora of props from anvils to zippers. There is a microphone for every sound including Soundfield, Neumann, Sennheiser and Electrovoice microphones.

Immersive Audio (Sound for 360 Film and VR)

Music and Effects are specialists in the Soundfield/Ambisonic format and have the longest knowledge base of this format in Australia. They record with Soundfield microphone kits and post produce the sound for virtual reality and 360 film. The team collaborate with VR makers from various disciplines and successfully apply their extensive experience and creativity in sonic storytelling to the latest technologies as they continue to evolve.

Since 1982, Music and Effects has used this technology to record a vast library of 3D sound effects and atmos tracks. They have recorded a library of over 1,500 B-format tracks from around the world including traffic jams in India, Central Park in New York, geysers in Iceland and World Cup street celebrations in Milan. These are typically used to create fully immersive experiences for surround sound in cinema and now, Virtual Reality.

TV and Online Sound Mixing
